Psychotherapy is a way of treating mental health difficulties (e.g. being anxious about too many things or worry about things too much; thinking obsessively or doing something obsessively; having very sad, catastrophic, hopeless thoughts about oneself, others, life, future; having trouble sleeping because your “head is spinning”; etc. ).
It is done by talking with a trained specialist. The aim of psychotherapy is to help you take control of your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. You achieve it by learning about your condition and your moods, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
There are many approaches in psychotherapy. The one that is right for you depends on your individual circumstances.
